SPSS Award for the Top Sire of Performance Ponies
At the 2009 British Breeding Dinner, SPSS Treasurer Edith Rutherford presented the SPSS Award for the Top Sire of Performance Ponies to Machno Carwyn, a 16 year old bay stallion sired by Carregcoch Bleddyn out of Machno Ceridwen by Tylan Danny. Owned by Mrs Yvonne Schoch, Machno Carwyn was ridden by the family Schoch's children Faye and Jordan and bred in Wales by Meirion Jones who collected the award.
Machno Carwyn is quite simply the best show jumping pony stallion in Europe, possibly in the world! Since the beginning of his career in 1997, Carwyn has been placed more than 220 times in official competitions; approximately 140 times internationally and 50 times at grand prix - winning no less than 7. He is the only pony stallion ever to have won a gold medal at the European Show Jumping Championships, and he has done this twice! He has also won the Swiss National Championships 4 times and has numerous highly successful progeny. His sire, Carregcoch Bleddyn, himself won this award in 2005, is Elite graded by the SPSS and has top performing progeny in all three disciplines. |
Machno Rhys, a young colt exported to Australia; photos above of him at his first show January 2009, winning his class then went on to be Champion colt, note all four feet off the ground being light footed and agile, he can jump like a stag. His breeding is impeccable: out of Machno Rowena (full sister to Ramezes) and by Bleddyn, Rhys is a full brother to Radiance, Royale and Ronaldo. I`m sure the Galagher family will have many years of pleasure with this colt, he has a very bright future I`m sure.

Photo: at his 1st International in Marlton, Ireland, where he won 3 of 4 classes, he was Individual Novice Champion and the team Champion for Wales. 03/08/08 won the Regional Championship Restricted Elementary class at Somerford Park; this class was against horses and senior riders!
In 2008 he`s competed in 7 Elementary classes and won 6 of them, at the Sheepgate under 25`s Championships; he won the pony derby and overall Champion pony, all of these results are partnered by 16 yo Stena Hoerner.

Winner of many championships inhand, now at 4 yo is winning under saddle. Della has made a great start to her WHP career; 9th Nov 2008 at the Solihull BSPS Show she won the not exceeding 138cm class, was Restricted Champion and Reserve Open Champion. She has now qualified for the BSPS Winter Championship Show in April 2009. From two shows she has qualified for the Novice, Restricted and Open Championship classes.
